The 2026 KRC cookout season began on 21 May at Birchwood Place, one of 4 Franklin Foundation senior living facilities we support. Under the expert spatula of Grillmeister Bob, the residents dined on cooked-to-order hamburgers, cheeseburgers and hot dogs, all delivered by runner Don.
Ricia and Kathy, missing June very much, organized the buffet; residents provided side dishes and desserts. Dan, Maria, Matt McF and his son ____ filled in wherever needed; all of us enjoyed socializing with the residents. [Maria even got to speak Portuguese with a resident!]
To highlight the impact these cookouts have, here is a quote from Dan: "One resident told me that this was the first time in three months that she had the opportunity to speak with someone who wasn't a resident." These do not require a huge time investment; we were completely cleaned up and on our way home before 1:30! Hope to see you there!
