The residents of Kettering Park Manor were treated to a performance of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra’s (DPO) Brass Quintet on January 6, 2022.  We heard comments such as “My Dad played in a Big Band orchestra,” and “In Jersey, my Dad owned the club where all the big names played: Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, the Dorsey brothers…, and “Oh, my, that was lovely!”  The program included big band songs, songs from Cole Porter musicals, and other 40’s music.  Bob Walsh, head of KRC’s Senior Care Project, has arranged for all four Franklin Foundation facilities in Kettering to have one of DPO’s ensembles (two in January and the other 2 in March).  This all began with a chance conversation between Ruth Reveal, Dayton Performing Arts Alliance’s (DPAA) Chief Learning Officer and Rotarian Kathy Lindahl.  Since Bob booked all four of the facilities in our project, DPAA gave us a discount.  “You drive a hard bargain, Bob!”
