Today was a very special day with much to celebrate. First we celebrated Bruce Jump who joined our club in 1970! That's over 50 years of service to our club and community! Bruce then inducted our newest Rotarian, Kamran James. Kamran is originally from Pakistan and is eager to join our community and club. He's an amazing individual and I hope you all get a chance to chat with him one on one soon. He will be speaking to our club on May 19th, and I can tell you his journey here is nothing short of amazing. I'm proud to have him as a member!

Our speaker was Dr. Jamie Yunger MD who has been on the front lines of treating COVID patients for the past year. He had an interesting timeline of events, what they knew and didn't know and how they 'learned along the way'. The inspiring news is that with the vaccines, our future looks like it's going to be 'back to normal' soon. Rotarian Ted Ramirez prepared a special presentation to Dr. Yunger. We gifted artwork from a local artist that shows the sacrifice he and his fellow physicians across our nation and here in our region have made. We appreciate the sacrifices of every healthcare worker and their families. It was nice to have his wife and daughter there for the special presentation.

After the meeting we prepared 24 gift bags for senior residents at one of the Franklin Foundation centers. We gave crossword puzzle books, socks, lip balm, home-made candies, sanitizing wipes and handwritten notes on cards to brighten their days. Look for our emails going out for next months donation list. Thank you to Bob Walsh & Kathy Lindahl for spearheading this project.

A day like today is what Rotary is truly about: Friendship, community, giving, sharing, honoring and celebrating. We hope you were inspired today. You inspire me every day with your spirit of generosity!
