Cheryl L. Conley, Ph.D.
"How DNA Has Shaped Our Lives"

Dr. Conley is a national expert on DNA testing and uses.  Her impressive career includes spearheading the development of the Dayton Regional Tissue Bank and serving as Director of Clinical Laboratory Sciences at Wright State University where she also taught transfusion medicine.  Cheryl was a member of the World Trade Center Kinship and Data Analysis Panel tasked with identifying the remains of 9-11 victims through DNA testing. [It should be noted that the intense heat during the destruction of the towers destroyed most of the victims' DNA, making even  the most sensitive of DNA analysis incapable of identifying them.  However,  some of the victims outside of the towers, such as first responders, were identified.] Her hope for the future is that some aspiring researcher will find a true cure for the cruel disease of juvenile diabetes.
