Beauty in the Dayton Arcade

I will be discussing my photography of a number of abandoned places, focussing on the Downtown Dayton Arcade with a set of photos from 2004 - 2009.  I will include some discussion of the difficulties of saving the complex but not the present activities which are having incredible success.  The arcade has been abandoned since 1991, and the present revitalization is the first activity in the complex since that time.

Bill Woody is a photographer from Beavercreek, Ohio who has been pursuing his art since 1970.  Recent projects have included grand scenics and mining towns of the old west, Dance in Old Havana, and an industrial project at the Silo City Photographic Workshops in Buffalo NY.  Bill has photographed the Ballet since the 80’s.  He contributed general photography for a recent book project: “Gems of the Greater Dayton Region.”  Bill is past president of Dayton’s Tripod Camera Club. He has taught workshops on photography in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, and Arizona, and has been juror for many photography exhibitions.  His first one-man show was in Beavercreek in 1995.  His prints have been displayed in shows across the country for several years.
