Rachel has spent the last 6 years working for Dayton Children’s Hospital in the role of Philanthropy Officer. She is proud to have been part of the team that raised over $27 million in a historic campaign to build a new patient tower that keeps kids close to home. Rachel serves on the organization’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and manages their Grateful Family Program in the Foundation. Rachel and her husband, Pete, are raising their family in Washington Township. They have adopted 5 of their children from the foster care system. They have shown compassion, courage, and commitment after opening their hearts and home to foster 25 children over 8 years. Defending life, addressing child welfare issues, and improving healthcare, specifically access to mental health programs, are her top priorities. Rachel holds 2 degrees from Indiana University, in General Studies and Political Science, graduating with highest distinction. She attended graduate school at Tiffin University, obtaining a Masters in Humanities with a concentration in Communication.

The speaker Debe Dockins has been with the Library since 2006 and holds a B.S. in Journalism and Public Relations from Murray State University in Kentucky. She is currently the Community Outreach Coordinator at the Library and is responsible for running the Dottie Yeck Good Life Award Writing Contest, the Erma Bombeck Writing Competition, the Speakers Bureau, coordinating four book discussion groups, and creating special programs such Tea at Two, the Memory Café series, and the Ghost Walk on Main.

Wright State Applied Research Corporation (WSARC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2011, that is affiliated with, but separate from Wright State University. WSARC provides administration and oversight of government and defense contacts, while Wright State Research institute (WSRI) performs the scientific work associated with those contracts. WSRI provides research services, playing a critical role in testing, evaluating, and inventing products and services in the human performance and technology sectors for the U.S. Air Force, the Department of Defense, and a variety of other organizations. Over the past eight years, the organizations have experienced significant growth in the number and value of contracts. Dennis James Andersh, CEO and President of WSARC and Executive Director of WSRI will address explain the organizations’ missions and services. His presentation is titled, “The Science of Intelligent Teaming.”
BIO: DENNIS ANDERSH CEO, President, Wright State Applied Research Corporation Executive Director, Wright State Research Institute Mr. Andersh connects the university’s research to new markets, while also leveraging the Wright State Institute’s (WSRI) existing commercial and healthcare business. Mr. Andersh was named Chief Executive Officer of the Wright State Applied Research Corporation (WSARC) in May 2014. In September 2015 Mr. Andersh was also named Executive Director of WSRI. With more than 20 years of documented leadership, management, and technical innovative successes, Mr. Andersh’s expertise lies in basic research; laboratory research and development (R&D); system concept development; system and platform development; and the fielding of air, ground, and space mission-critical systems. He is highly respected for building collaborative partnerships of academia, industry, government, commercial, congressional, and local entities to create strategic growth across multiple new markets in the federal, state, and local government. Before coming to Wright State, Mr. Andersh held several leadership positions at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). He led the Dayton region as Senior Vice President where he was responsible for SAIC’s business with Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), Springfield Air National Guard, and the Dayton region. |

Jessica Beans is the Associate Dean of Enrollment and Communication at Kettering College, the educational institution of Kettering Health Network which specializes in offering healthcare degrees. She previously worked at Kettering College as the Marketing and Public Relations director for 5 years. Jessica will speak about the power of emotional intelligence in the workplace and will focus on how she has seen this applied in industries she’s been most involved including higher education, healthcare, and small business. She and her husband have lived and worked in Kettering, Ohio, since 2014. Her husband works for the parks and recreation department for the city of Kettering and they also co-founded a local coffee roasting company and have launched a coffee line (Enneagram Coffee) to encourage growing your own emotional intelligence while enjoying specialty coffee. |
